Day One
Upon arrival one of our representatives will be waiting for you at the airport holding a sign with your name on it. After the meet and greet, you will be transferred to the La Fortuna / Arenal Volcano area where you’ll be staying at the Hotel San Bosco. The air conditioned drive will take about 2 hours. Your hotel is located in the center of town, close to many restaurants and shopping. All rooms have air conditioning and WIFI. The hotel has a great pool and some very lovely grounds. A tropical breakfast is included each morning (unless otherwise noted).
Day Two
After our delicious (included) tropical breakfast, you’ll head directly to the “Hogarcito” Orphanage to work with the young kids there. The orphanage has 17 young kids, ranging in age from newborn to 10 years old. While at the orphanage this week you’ll help out with daily chores, light maintenance as needed, and most importantly – playing with the kids. It’s tough for the small staff to be able to spend a lot of time with the kids and we greatly appreciate all the help we can get! Then at about 1pm we’ll head back to the hotel to rest and prepare for your afternoon tour, the Arenal Volcano Hike with a trip to the Baldi Hot Springs. Dinner included.
Day Three
Today we get up early for our Birdwatching Adventure! (Coffee and fruit will be provided as we leave the hotel too early for the included breakfast.) Your naturalist guide will take you on a hike, providing interesting facts about Costa Rica nature and the different birds that live here. You’ll see a wide array of exotic birds from toucans, parrots, oropendolas, to colorful tanagers and parakeets. Later we return to the orphanage where we’ll spend some more time with the children. Tonight you’re on your own to explore!
Day Four
This morning, after our included breakfast, we head to the nearby Wildlife Rescue Center. We’ll be touring the facilities and grounds, as well as pitching in to help out. You’ll be able to care for the animals and feed them, as well as participate in any maintenance projects available that day. The center has monkeys, birds, a kinkajou, a peccary, and several other animals. Since it’s a rescue center, the types of animals varies nearly daily. After lunch (not included) you’ll work a few hours in the orphanage.
Day Five
We head out after breakfast on a bit of an adventure this morning. You’ll be enjoying a Tram Ride over the jungle and a Canopy / Zip-line Tour! Then as usual we head to the orphanage for the afternoon.
Day Six
This morning we’ll get back out to enjoy a bit of nature as we stroll through the Arenal Hanging Bridges. This tour is perfect for nature enthusiasts of all ages. The trails in this primary forest area are designed for all ability levels and cover a total of 2 miles. This afternoon we’ll spend our last few hours with the kids in the orphanage.
Day Seven – Departure Day
Sadly, this morning we say goodbye to Costa Rica. After our included breakfast we head to the airport for your flight back home.
