[tab_item title=”Overview”]

This project will appeal to animal lovers of all ages seeking to preserve the rich biodiversity of Costa Rica. Human development, the accompanying destruction of natural habitats, and illegal hunting in Costa Rica have led to a precipitous decline in wildlife populations, causing many species to be in danger of extinction. The Wildlife Rescue Center was founded 12 years ago by a veterinarian and his son. At the center, we believe by doing our part to help injured wild animals and educate the public on the struggle of these animals, we are restoring the balance between humans and nature. Many animals come to us injured, dropped off by concerned citizens or park rangers. We care for them and release them if appropriate. Because some animals are not good candidates for being released back into the wild, we adopt them ourselves. Our center also offers opportunities for our volunteers to work with local communities in order to increase environmental conservation awareness.

[tab_item title=”Accommodation & Food”]

Volunteers will be placed in hand-selected host families. All host families have running water and electricity. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served by the host family. Typical Costa Rican food includes: gallo pinto, rice, beans, eggs, and fruit. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Living with a host family is a great way to learn Costa Rican culture, build lifelong relationships, learn the language and eat authentic Costa Rican food.

An upgrade option is also available to a nearby hotel. Contact us for more information.
