The Casa Milagro Foundation is a nonprofit NGO inspiring communities in Costa Rica in the areas of cross-cultural understanding, peace, conservation, education, art & culture, and health & wellness.
Their philosophy is that by helping individuals recognize their own gifts and talents, they can empower people to be powerful change agents – in their personal lives, their local communities, and beyond.
They currently operate three main programs:
Tropical Adventures promotes responsible tourism opportunities through voluntour experiences throughout the country in the areas of education, conservation & wildlife and community development. All proceeds go to benefit our country-wide community programs, including Vecinos del Mundo.
Vecinos del Mundo (which means “Neighbors of the World”), was created to bring together cultures and people in the community Hojancha, Costa Rica in a collaborative effort to increase understanding between cultures, with an emphasis on community development, education, culture and conservation.
Their Environmental Policy Advocacy Program was created to help strengthen the conservation laws in Costa Rica to further protect our rich & biodiverse land, waters and wildlife. They are currently working to create a National Sea Turtle Strategy with other NGOs and the Costa Rican government.
Our experience shows participating in an international volunteer trip helps build common understanding, brings forward and reinforces the inherent value of the individual, strengthens a sense of local and worldwide community, and ultimately enables people to improave their lives and reinforce their commitment to society.
