Helping Hands Weekend
September 8, 2007This Saturday, September 15th, we hope you’ll consider joining us on the Talamanca Indigenous Reservation as we gather at the Bambu Retirement Home for a 1-day Helping Hands event. Tropical Adventures staff, volunteers, friends and neighbors are joining forces with Helping Hands Costa Rica members to pitch in and help the folks out at the retirement home.

July 20, 2007Every Wednesday, all the volunteers in the Puerto Viejo area gather at 9:30am for our weekly beach cleaning. It’s one of my favorite activities, not only because it helps the environment and maintains clean & safe areas, but also because it brings all our volunteers together.

May 28, 2007Phyllis and her niece, Lauryn, came to us from New Mexico for two weeks. We had the best time with them! They volunteered with our La Flor project in the Central Valley and worked very hard the whole time they were here.

May 21, 2007We are currently trying to build a medical center in the Talamanca Mountains. We have a doctor who walks 6 hours into the mountains once a week, but he has no place from which to operate. This makes seeing patients incredibly difficult.

People from inside and outside of Costa Rica have been very generously donating supplies and clothes for our kids, families and communities.

April 20, 2007Many potential volunteers ask us for more detail about what they would be doing as part of our volunteer program here in Costa Rica. That, of course, really depends on which project you would be participating in.
We also do a lot of customizing of the volunteer schedule based on the goals of the volunteer. Some volunteers choose to fill up their day with as many hours of projects as possible, where others want to volunteer a minimum amount of time so they can take advantage of the beach, tours or to just relax.
