As if we hadn’t had enough excitement lately, we took a trip to Isla Tortuga. We are looking for great, easy trips to send our clients on, and Isaac had been here before and seemed to think it was a great candidate.

Isla Tortuga is a small island in the Gulf of Nicoya with pristine beaches and clear waters. Though I’ve never been to Fiji, this felt like a good substitute. We left at 5am from Cartago and arrived on time at the AurolaCimg6538
Holiday Inn, downtown San Jose. The bus picked us up and then we spent another hour running around picking up people from other hotels. Had we known this, of course, we would have met them at the last hotel.

About half-way there, we stopped to eat our included breakfast at El Jardin, a restaurant and souvenir shop. Once we arrived in Puntarenas, we boarded a catamaran where they served us drinks and fresh fruit as we cooled off our toes in one of the on-board, tiny pools. An hour-and-a-half later we found ourselves on this adorable island.

While we relaxed a bit, the crew changed into beachwear and prepared our delicious lunch. Live music was provided while we ate. We were there a total of 4 hours, which gave us plenty of time to swim, snorkel, walk around and get some good sun. Though as soon as I got in the water, something really bit my nipple hard. I screamed something to the effect of “Oh shit!” and this guy near me said, “You sure switched to English fast!”

I guess most days from the boat there are dolphin sightings, but not this time. We just took in theCimg6612
beautiful surroundings of the peninsula and surrounding islands as we made our way back to Puntarenas. The bus ride was long, but we all slept well. We finally pulled up to the hotel about 8pm, making it a 14-hour trip. All-in-all it was a good deal for just about $100 per person. Let me know if you’re interested, and I’ll hook you up with the trip.
