I can finally post something about my graduation, which was this past August 28th. I have been wanting to do this for a long time, but was waiting for my camera. I had left it in San Francisco at my sister’s house.
I had never imagined I would want to attend my own graduation (what could be more boring?). But then after two years of really hard work, it seemed like there should really be a celebration of all our hard work. It turns out that the graduation was nice, but the best part was having so many friends and family members there to support me.
I’m hoping to post something about my school experience soon – really a summary of the important things I learned. But for now, let me just say that I am so glad I went through this program. It was a long, hard two years. However I feel like I grew and learned so much during this time. The staff was very well-organized and professional and the course work was solid.
For those of you who don’t know, it was a graduate program in Spiritual Psychology at the University of Santa Monica. I had been flying back to LA once a month since I moved to Costa Rica back in March of 2004. So not only was the course work draining, but the traveling took a lot out of me.
Now I’m excited to say that Isaac is in the same program. After over a year of preparing and applying and testing, he was accepted and received his student visa. Last weekend was his first weekend there – and he really enjoyed it. I’m very proud of him for taking on this kind of work – especially in a language other than his first. It’ll be pretty challenging, but he’s a smart guy.
After graduation, I had the opportunity to drive up to San Francisco with my family. I stayed there almost a week and really just did a lot of relaxing. But I also met up with some friends, Carlos and Marisol, from Costa Rica. They were arriving that very week for a 6-month internship in the city. I was really looking forward to spending some time with them.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more on what “Spiritual Psychology” is all about in a posting yet to come.
